discover theSCENERY

As you cross the border into Scotland, with its untamed landscapes of summits and streams, there is one hotel that will be the first to greet you – Greens at Gretna. Built during the First World War, Gretna was home to workers of the world’s largest munitions factory, the nine-mile-long HM Factory Gretna. Today, the Devil’s Porridge Museum brings Britain’s secret wartime history to life with interactive exhibits.

Explore the surrounding museums, gardens, art galleries and shops of Dumfries and Galloway, escape to one of Britain’s wild breathing spaces, Northumberland National Park, or just relax and be pampered from head to toe in True You, the hotel’s on-site beauty salon. Greens at Gretna Hotel is just off junction 45 of the M6, the key motorway linking England and Scotland, and 10 minutes drive north of historic Carlisle.

If you are looking for a great space to hold a meeting or social event, then this hotel's location and onsite facilities are perfect for with packages to suit every business.

There is an elevator for ease of access to the upper floors of the hotel.

experience the MOMENTS

Scotland is an ideal location for the adventurer within you. Loads to see and even more to be done.

  • Devil’s Porridge Museum
The state-of-the-art museum offers visitors the opportunity to experience life in a World War One trench and explore the factory to discover what life was like for the munitions girls.
  • Solway Coast
The Solway Coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty stretches from Rockcliffe in the North to Maryport in the South, covering about 115 square kilometres of the Solway Plain. This stretch of coast is renowned for its spectacular sunsets.
  • Carlisle Cathedral
This medieval, predominately Romanesque and Gothic, cathedral has been standing on the border with Scotland for almost 900 years.
  • Robbie Burns Centre
The centre tells the story of the Scottish Bard's final years in the market town of Dumfries. Best known for poems such as 'The Jolly Beggars' (1786) and 'Tam o' Shanter' (1791), the Bard's story is told through original manuscripts and belongings, a scale model of 1790s Dumfries and an audio-visual presentation.
  • Courtship Maze
The Courtship Maze at Gretna Green Famous Blacksmiths Shop is a maze with a difference and great fun for all ages. An impressive structure, located near to the car park, the Courtship Maze is shaped like a pair of interlocking wedding bands (symbolic of its romantic location); covering a space of 70m x 40m and built from stone.
